Duration 2 Days

Objectives:

This course will provide delegates with a good understanding of how macros and user-defined functions can be recorded and edited, or written directly in Visual Basic.

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to create effective macros to automate many aspects of Word and produce sophisticated document-based applications.

Designed For:

The course is suitable for delegates with a good understanding of Word, especially the use of Templates, Forms and other Fields. Ability to use a modern programming language, including an understanding of variables, arrays, loops and decision structures, will be an advantage, though is not essential.

Description:

Creating complex documents that can be used effectively by people other than the designer is not always a simple task. Word macros, written in Visual Basic, offer the possibility of automating and simplifying the use of such documents, enabling users to remain focused on the business needs and results, rather than the technical details of how the document is structured.

The first part of the course focuses on the essential knowledge required to create and use macros and functions to automate many aspects of Word.

The remainder explores the use of Visual Basic with Word in more depth and shows how it can be used to build sophisticated templates that can be operated effectively by users with relatively little knowledge of advanced Word features.
